Bookmark Love

God, I love the world wide web. When I'm not busy spinning on a stripper's pole, or flashing my boobs in a blog post, I like to surf the internet. I have so many sites bookmarked that it's getting to be a chore to find anything. I tried to delete a few things this morning, but it's hard to let go. Here are some of my favorites that you might not have heard of:

1) stitchymcyarnpants - I've been meaning to tell my knitting friends (LA and Diane) about this one for ages. This site is dedicated to displaying all of the amazingly craptaastic things people have made with yarn through the ages. Man, do I wish I knew how to crochet so I could make one of those frog purses. It's gor-gee-ous. Plus the commentary is hilarious.

2) rate my turban - what can I say about this? Some days you just feel like rating a turban. I really like the guy with the pink turban best. He has a sassy attitude.

3) taphophilia.(dot)com - this is described as a repository of morbid curiosities, thanatology, cemetary, funeral industry, and death related news. I think it's really interesting as I am a weirdo like that. Check it out if you dare!

4) snopes.com - this site is a great reference source for urban legends, and folklore. I like the section on Coca-cola a lot.

5) world beard and moustache championships - Hawt!

6) wild recipes - full of recipes for the worst sounding food you can imagine. If you've always wanted to learn how to make headcheese, then you must check it out. Hint: there is hog head and tongue in it.

7) a soviet poster a day - basically some guy posts a soviet poster everyday and tells you what it means. Well...I find it interesting anyway.

So tell me, what strange sites do you have bookmarked and why do you like them?

Wild Recipes? How timely. I’m on my way to the public market and have added dry roasted army worms and bull’s testicles to my shopping list.

You don't want to know about my bookmarks. Really, you don't.

I can honestly say I don't have a collection of sites quite like yours. The only oddity in my 'favorites' list is myspace. Gawd, I'm such a bore (not to be confused with whore - of which I am that as well).

I used to love this site:
http://www.happy-wash.com/

It was a streaming webcam from a laundromat in France. I've been following the adventures of the washers and dryers for about 5 years....and then POOF...the webcam was gone! I don't understand if I need to click a link or what....does anyone know how to read French?

MJ- I can only imagine the kind of things you have bookmarked. I bet they're whiggity-whack, yo.

LA- I had to check out David Sedaris' reading list immediately. How cool is it that he recommends The Zombie Survival Guide and Among the Thugs?

bottleblonde- well.... there are plenty of oddities on Myspace that's for sure.

Brenda - Es tut mir leid, aber ich verstehe nicht frenchie talk. Too bad it's not in German, I could give that a shot.

I am cheery am I not?
Funny how none of them are blogs! O I do love ubermouth.blogspot.com- she is so funny! and Captain Smack( but I am his agent,so I have to say that!)

pru - great crafts site! I'm off to check out la's recomendations too . . .

BTW - when I saw Sedaris in April, he admitted to a surprising obsession with zombies. Most of my zombie knowledge comes from listening to him

I suppose some people might think www.stopabductions.com is a strange site, but those people have obviously never been abducted by aliens.

I sometimes pretend to be a psychiatrist so I can laugh at people's problems, and you'd be amazed how many of those people discover they've been abducted by hostile aliens after undergoing one of my hypnotic regression sessions. Some experts say I'm not qualified to perform such procedures, but to them I say, "How fucking qualified do you have to be to beat someone over the head with a sock full of batteries while wearing an ET mask?"

PK - that is a good idea. I have a Klingon dictionary bookmarked, but I should really switch to English. I haven't really used it since the time I sang "I Feel Pretty" in Klingon for the talent portion of the Miss Naked Tennessee pagent.

ubermouth- interesting sites. I haven't seen that many dead celebrities since....well, I've never seen that many.

Diane- I knew you would like the yarn site. It should give you some inspiration for your next project.

I don't think a person can be too prepared for zombie attacks. It's only a matter of time before they rise.

Morbid- what a fantastic site! I have bookmarked it as I plan to get to work immediately on one of those Thought Screen Helmets. It looks like it will work much better than the flimsey tinfoil hat I've been wearing, not to mention that it is way more stylish!

I'm fairly sure that I've been abducted by hosile aliens at some point, but maybe I need one of your hypnotic regression sessions to find out for sure. I'm too embarrased to tell my shrink about these fears. Besides, no matter what I tell him the therapy is always the same. He calls me a bad little girl, and throws me over his knee and spanks me. I'm also getting tired of wearing the Catholic schoolgirl uniform he prescribed. I don't think it's helping.

Wow, you really are trying to make me become a vegan.

I had no idea there was actual head in 'head cheese'. Just reading that recipe makes me want to drink poison.

Prunella Jones said...

Mister U- muyhahahahaha my evil plan is working. I'd like to convert the whole world to veganism so that I don't have to smell the mouth watering scent of steak being grilled ever again. It's probably the only way I'll ever be able to stick to my diet.

ROFL! Oh my gosh, the "hawt" mustaches made me laugh the hardest! What are they thinking?!!!

Memphis said...

What? No porn sites at all? What fun is that? Are they naked on the yarn site at least? Someone should be naked. Is there like a "Suicide Girls Do Yarn" section there or something? Seriously, no porn at all? What is the world coming to?

BTW - Sedaris' answer to escaping Zombies is to go upstairs and then destroy the stairs behind you b/c he's pretty sure Zombies can't climb

I love www.trueofficeconfessions.com and www.passiveaggressivenotes.com. What can I saw? I love the bitchiness.

There is a naked yarn blog somewhere. Or at least there used to be.

ablondeblogger- those mustaches are so hawt they are on fire!

Memphis Steve- what can I say? Looking at that pic of you on the toilet is all the porn I need, baby.

Diane- he is so smart. No wonder I worship him as a god.

Mish- Ooooo sweet! I must check them out. I like a good dose of bitchiness anyday.

Mister U- a naked yarn blog site? That sounds like something people who drive yellow cars would love.

SG- really won't somebody please think of the poor shivering naked sheep? We should grow hemp to turn into yarn. That way if I can't hook up with my supplier I could smoke one of the ugly sweaters my grandma knits me.
